br />Come hear our luncheon speakers, Cheryl Strouse and Pam Smith, talk ab
out the world of forensic botany and how plants have been used to solve som
e high profile cold cases.
Luncheon Speakers:
Crystal is a botanist, forensic botanist and restoration ecologist. She ha s over 25 years of botanical experience and regularly teaches plant identif ication classes and lectures at conferences. She has worked for the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department for 27 years and has served as the S tate President of the Colorado Native Plant Society. She is currently a Nat ive Plant Master Instructor with CSU Extension. She has been a member of Ne croSearch International since 2010 where she volunteers her time assisting law enforcement on criminal cases that include botanical evidence. She has worked on cases in the U.S. and Russia and taught a forensic botany trainin g attended by law enforcement agencies and the F.B.I.
Pam Smith is a fiel d botanist and ecologist and has been with the Colorado Natural Heritage Pr ogram for ten years. She has 30+ years of conducting botanical and ecologic al research that includes botanical surveys for rare plants, wetland condit ion assessments, wetland delineations, noxious weed monitoring and manageme nt, and preparing noxious weed management plans. Her volunteer efforts incl ude 10 years as a CSU Extension Native Plant Master instructor, guest instr uctor for the City of Fort Collins Master Naturalist Program, past Presiden t of the Colorado Native Plant Society Northern Chapter, and 10 years as a forensic botanist with NecroSearch International.
